March 3-Margaret Tudor marries her third husband, Henry Stewart, 1st Lord Methven.

Sep. 29, 1528-Cardinal Campeggio is sent by the Pope to hear Henry VIII's case.      
                 
               
Margaret Tudor gives birth to a daughter, Dorthea, who is believed to have died young.

  May 31-The new Legatine court opens at Black Friars. Katherine of Aragon makes her famous plea to Henry then leaves the court.
         
  The Legatine Court is unable to come to a decision and holds proceedings until the case can be heard in Rome.

  Henry VIII dismisses Lord Chancellor Thomas Wolsey for failing to obtain the Pope's consent to his divorce from Katherine of Aragon. He is sent to Yorkshire.  
     
  Henry VIII summons the "Reformation Parliament" and begins to cut ties with the Catholic Church of Rome. Clergy legal power is removed.
